More than 20 million tourists discover our beautiful city every year, here’s a little teaser to show you why:
Our landmarks such as our river Danube, Castle Hill and Andrássy Avenue have been recognized as UNESCO World Heritage sites, our Parliament was once the largest in the world (the third today), we have the largest medicinal baths (Széchényi Baths, Gellért Baths) and thermal water cave system known to man, the third largest church in Europe (Esztergom Basilica), the world’s longest passenger trams boasting 54 metres in length running in 60-90 second intervals (Siemens Combino), and one of the oldest subway lines in the world (the Yellow line).
Located in the heart of Europe, Hungary as a whole, and Budapest in particular is a hub for leisure and relaxation. Budapest has a population of 1.7 million people. The city is split in two by the River Danube, the right bank known as Buda, and the left as Pest. It encircles two islands, Margaret Island, 2.5 km in length, hosting endless possibilities for fitness during the day and partying during the night, as well as Hajógyári Island, an idyllic location for wake-boarding before sunset, and a centre for festivals such as Sziget Festival (one of the most popular in the world, hosting 400,000 people annually) and partying at some of the biggest clubs in Europe (Like Studio, which lures up to 5000 people every second Saturday). For these reasons, Budapest has become one of the most sought-after destinations for stag do's, birthday celebrations, or for general travel.
